The Benefits of a Leaky Eavestrough

We all know that 3 year olds can be quite inventive, not to mention hilarious, in the projects they take on. I was curious to see what Brady's plan was with the watering can.

After a good rain, I found him holding up the the watering can right under a hole in the eavestrough. After it had filled up, he set off on his mission....

To WATER THE CAT!! So he would grow, of course. And we wonder why that cat is becoming more and more agitated in the last year!!

On a chance trip to the local thrift store, we scored this number for a buck! Thank you to whoever donated this....it's been a huge hit at our house!!

Just Because

This verse has been on my mind again today, so I thought I'd share it.

May the GOD OF HOPE fill you with all JOY and PEACE as you TRUST in HIM, so that you may OVERFLOW with HOPE by the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Let the FUN Begin!

Today is the day we have been waiting for!! The Schmidt's arrive from Mississauga! Brady has been counting down the days (literally!)

The last time everyone was together was last summer, during our getaway to Wilderness Edge...

And Nate was only 2 months old!!

This was also the location that Brady's deer chasing days began....

I'm so excited - it will be a great family time! As soon as the Austrailian Adventuring Falks get back, and the Hildebrands from Winnipeg come out, the party will begin!!!

Beach Day

We had a blast at the beach today! Great friends and great fun! Nate was happiest when zooming around in his yellow inflatable!

The best part of this picture could only be heard. Brady was belting out his favorite song, "The foolish man built his house upon the sand......." And of course "the rains came down....."

And the house on the sand went SPLAT!

Showers of Blessing

I wish you could hear the background music I've got going on....I have all the windows open so I can listen to an awesome thunderstorm going on. I love the sounds of a thunderstorm (not so much when I was little....) and the downpour of rain.

Now let's just hope the power doesn't go out, or this post will also be washed away!

The last week has seemed to be full with so many blessings. And all of them so unexpected.

....unexpected gifts

....unexpected opportunites

....unexpected words that have encouraged me

Sometimes the valley is low - and sometimes we are lifted up to the top of the mountain. And even though I need to have joy in the valleys, too, I'm thankful for these times where God's hand and provision is felt so clearly in our life.

Class of '89

It was the year of 1989.

The Berlin Wall came down.
Big bangs were in, as were mullets and big glasses.
The big hits included B-52's Loveshack, Phil Collin's Another Day in Paradise, Madonna's Like a Prayer, Paula Abdul's Straight Up.
And Milli Vanilli was huge.

And my beloved graduated from Morden Collegiate Institute.

He was a studious bookworm and got good grades.

Tonight Don is going to the first event of his 20 year high school reunion!! I don't know if I feel old (because it's his 20 year) or young (because it's not mine....although I am over half way there!)

Here's his graduating class. Can you find him?

Third row from the top, second from the right.

Here, I'll zoom in for you a little.

Isn't he a babe....that suit is an amazing work of grey, shiny kind of fabric.

I wouldn't meet him until 9 years after these pictures were taken.

Enjoy these pictures while you can, people! I'm pretty sure the minute he sees them on here, they'll be getting the ax!

Brady's Future Calling in Life?

We've got a plumbing project going on in our house today. Nothing fancy, just replacing a faucet, but it gave Brady a chance to get in on the 'plumbing action'! There were definitely more brightly colored plastic tools scattered around the kitchen than there were Don's!

Dreams Babies Dream

Have you ever wondered what babies dream about?

I did last night.

It was almost midnight, I was still up and Nate was sleeping in his crib. I was waiting for him to stir a bit so I could give him his dose of medicine. He was sleeping very peacefully, when suddenly he let out a man sized laugh! Not a giggle or a coo...but a serious chortle of laughter. Sure made me smile - and think about what might be going through his head!

Mmmm....Strawberries!

I've got a pail of strawberries just waiting to be made into something. I think the winning recipe this time around will be this one from Taste of Home.

Now, who is coming over?!?

Proud to be a Canadian!

Just thought I'd leave you with a few pictures from our Canada Day Celebrations! Winkler's Main Street was blocked off for the children's carnival. It was a great day - lots of fun for the kids!

On a totally different topic - how does a 3 year old boy lose 2 different hats in a matter of a few days? One of life's little mysteries!

Enjoy your weekend!
